RSS Feeds
If you aren't familiar, RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is an easy way to "subscribe" to a blog (or anything with discrete entries that is well-represented in text). It's entirely free and you (should) control your own RSS reader. Basically, you get a big list of XML entries, each with a unique ID (typically a URL), and your RSS reader shows you the ones you haven't seen.
RSS for this site: rss.xml.
Here are some of my favorite blogs:
-
100 Rabbits (feed): elegant technology, brought to you from a sailboat
-
Drew DeVault (feed): curmudgeonly posts about FOSS
-
WaitButWhy (feed): analogies can somewhat explain anything
-
Nick Black (mediawiki feed; 7 days): fractally detailed compsci chaos wizardry
YouTube hosts a lot of interesting stuff (and also has an RSS feed). Although, you may want to consider using an alternative frontend, such as CloudTube or Invidious, if they happen to be winning the cat and mouse game at the moment. I enjoy these channels:
-
Applied Science (feed): high quality & visually interesting research
-
Stuff Made Here (feed): human task engineering and robotics
-
Captain Disillusion (feed): vfx breakdowns & history
-
Jack Stauber (feed): surreal mixed media art
-
Tom 7 (suckerpinch) (feed): renaissance man does performative compsci
